The musicians of Viva el Ball! (“Long Live the Dance!”) are part of the association of the same name, dedicated to researching, preserving and sharing the traditional dances and songs of northern Marche, a region in central Italy on the Adriatic coast.

After more than fifteen years spent meeting and learning from the last elderly musicians and dancers of the area, they have helped bring back to life around one hundred traditional dances that once animated rural gatherings and village celebrations. Among them are Furlane, Saltarelli, Mandarine, Paroncine, Manfrine, and many playful community dances.

At Tanz im Moos, they have become regular guests and a much-loved presence. Each year they introduce new dances that are now so rare that many people from the Marche region themselves no longer know them.

Through music, dance and storytelling, Viva el Ball! keeps alive a unique cultural heritage, sharing the joy, energy and community spirit of traditional Italian folk dance with audiences and dancers from all over Europe.
